Michael Lauterjung’s paintings focus on everyday objects—fruits, berries, nuts, or bowls—which he renders with remarkable precision and illusionistic mastery. In contrast to the opulent still life tradition of the 17th century, he reduces his motifs to isolated forms set against abstracted backgrounds. This deliberate tension between representation and dissolution reflects on painting as a medium in itself.

Executed in an Old Master technique on wood, his objects achieve an almost sculptural presence. At the same time, Lauterjung contrasts this classical approach with modern, non-representational color fields. From this synthesis emerges a quiet, contemplative visual language that transforms familiar objects into a new perceptual space.
